Product description

A touching childhood story between an artist's family and self-discovery The narrator is six years old when his parents transplant him from the wild West Berlin of the 1970s to the village of Gümse in Wendland in Lower Saxony. Not only is his father a very successful painter and visual artist, but their home also becomes a regular meeting place for the cultural scene of the old Federal Republic. Worlds collide with the intellectual, politically left-wing milieu of his parents and the rural, provincial life of the village in the 'zone border area', between which the boy seeks orientation - and finally finds in writing. In a great movement of remembrance, Jan Peter Bremer describes a childhood in the countryside, his literarily masterfully told, tragicomic and touching story. 'Jan Peter Bremer tells how a child's consciousness is formed, namely his own, and because he is such a clever, elegant narrator, it is infinitely sad and terribly funny at the same time.' Thomas Hettche 'My Cosmos by Jan Peter Bremer has been enriched by another book: Coming Home. Tragicomic, touching, grandiose.' Angelika Klüssendorf
