Product description

There is no truth, only practice Essen-Katernberg, mid-1990s: Marthe studies at the Academy of Visual Arts and Graphic Storytelling and lives with three fellow students: in a shared flat that is also the headquarters of the student publishing house Bolsterbaumhaus. She draws autobiographical animal comics, hates Donald Trump, has sex with Kurt, gets together with Oleg and sells pornographic Bible comics at the weekly market. She is also in charge of the cruise comic 'Combo' by the artist Amadea, which is published by Bolsterbaumhaus Verlag after chaotic preparatory work. A few months later, it comes out that the 16-year-old illustrator Urs Mærzwald has copied from 'Combo' in his hyped debut and bestselling graphic novel 'Onesie Canyon'. While the Bolsterbaumhaus becomes the focus of an overheated public debate about the plagiarism case, existential battles take place behind the curtain that shake Marthe and her friends to their foundations. In a fast-paced, addictive language, Marc Degens tells of the triumph of graphic novels and the ups and downs of DIY art. 'Seduction of the Innocents' is an extremely human comedy about the intoxication of the possible, the pitfalls of independent publishing and the fine line between plagiarism and homage. Biography Marc Degens, born in Essen in 1971, publishes novels, stories, essays, columns and poems. He is editor of the online feuilleton satt.org and program director of SuKuLTuR Verlag. His most recent publications are the novel "Hier keine Kunst" and the volume of essays "Abweichen.
