Product description

Between steelworks and pithead towers in the Ruhr region: Unemployed teenagers Atze, Lutz, and Sulli steal a furniture van, pick up the young Svea, and drive aimlessly through the area – they are THE RIDERS. After a days-long odyssey through coal mines, miner Katlewski resurfaces from underground in A LOT OF COAL and settles accounts with everyday life: Because the day will come when the saw wants to saw! On Saturday, King Football reigns supreme. The stadium and the city are in a frenzy in the NORTH CURVE, while the team, management, and fans fight against financial and personal ruin.

People have no money, loads of money, and way too much money. Adolf Winkelmann's Ruhr region trilogy created a cinematic monument to his homeland and its working-class era. His authentic and humorous films portray a vibrant life filled with mining, unemployment, driving, and football!

The Departures (1978)
Can someone please tell me why I'm still here? Atze, Lutz, and Sulli are unemployed and wasting their time in a backyard. The neighbors are suspicious, their former colleagues mock them, doing nothing is boring, and the three of them are fed up with it all. They steal a fully loaded moving van and drive off. On the highway, they pick up hitchhiker Svea and just keep driving. A short test drive turns into an adventure. But those who run away are hunted. The neighbors have always known, the police are searching for them, and overzealous individuals are setting out to catch the outcasts…

Lots of money (1981)
The day will come when the saw wants to saw! Katlewski is in his early twenties and a miner from Recklinghausen. He can no longer cope with his wife and their comfortable life. One day, 1,000 meters underground, he suddenly disappears. Two weeks later, he is discovered—completely distraught—in a tunnel beneath Dortmund and carried to the surface. He meets a girl named Ulli—and his second life begins, with only one catch: there's still the loan from his first! To pay it off, Katlewski tries to make some quick cash. And then comes the point where nothing can stop him. Because the day will come when the saw wants to saw...

North Curve (1993)
Salt on the eggs, that's good German tradition! Saturday is the most important day of the week – after all, the decisive match is taking place, and everyone wants to be there. Everyone, whether fan, pub owner, coach, or manager, is preparing in their own way; everyone wants to make the deal of a lifetime. Substitute Niebitsch is eagerly awaiting his chance to play. Player agent Roland F. Beyer is trying to pull off the big one. The club is on the verge of financial ruin, while President Vischering is only thinking about the invitation to the 'Aktuelle Sportstudio' (a popular German sports program). In the end, one thing is clear: Herberger's wisdom, "The game lasts 90 minutes," is wrong. The crucial match lasts all day!
