Players can take crouching and lying positions, switch active weapons, throw grenades, and search for fallen enemies. The limited amount of ammunition requires a strategic approach, but its exchange between soldiers is smooth and intuitive. Unique mechanics allow you to place units in vehicles, creating your own combat configurations. Players build bases, capture strategic points, and manage resources in classic RTS style. The game features 8 training missions that showcase the basics of gameplay and 100 skirmish maps for solo or co-op bot play. It is also possible to compete against other players online in matches of up to 32 participants. APOX also offers a matchmaking lobby, clan system, statistics, and a map editor.
