The Starter Edition includes 6 playable heroes (instead of 12), 3 of which are completely unlocked. Other heroes can be unlocked for 8000 steel each (from 8 to 15 hours of gameplay, depending on the playstyle).

The Starter Edition is fully compatible with the Season Pass, existing DLC, and all additional content.
