The commander sees the battlefield from above and gives orders, erects structures, gathers resources, researches new technologies, and directly supports subordinates. Below are some examples: a human Commander can drop first aid kits and ammunition for a surrounded squad of marines. He can also build sentry turrets to help defend their positions. The Alien Commander can build a new Hive to corrupt its surroundings, allowing more alien eggs to be born... Two unique factionsPlaying as aliens, they can evolve into one of five life forms: the fast, fearsome Skull, who can run up walls and deal massive damage with his jaws. Lerks fly, they can also spray gases that support the team in battle. Gorge can heal other life forms, and build tunnels, build aggressive hydras, completely non-aggressive walls, and other structures useful in combat. Fade can appear and disappear in the middle of battle, murdering Marines with huge blades. And finally, Onos - a huge creature that is so massive and hard that even entire teams of marines have a big problem with it.
