Product description
RimWorld is a story generator. It was designed to co-create tragic, twisted, and triumphant stories about imprisoned pirates, desperate colonists, starvation, and survival. It works by controlling the "random" events that the world throws at you. Every storm, pirate raid, or wandering trader is a card that the AI Narrator throws in the direction of your unique story. There are several narrators to choose from. Random Randy does crazy things, Classic Cassandra focuses on growing tension, and Laid Back Phoebe likes to relax. Your colonists are not professional settlers – they are survivors of a crashed passenger liner. It can be a nobleman, an accountant and a housewife. You will get more colonists by capturing them in battle and convincing them to go over to your side by buying slave traders or accepting refugees. So, your colony will always be made up of a variety of people. The origin of each person has an impact on their characteristics. A nobleman will excel at social skills (recruiting prisoners, negotiating trade prices), but will refuse to do manual labor. A farmer knows how to grow food thanks to years of experience, but he cannot conduct research. A science nerd is great at research, but he can't perform social tasks at all. The genetically modified killer can't do anything but kill - but he does it really well. Colonists create and destroy relationships. Each of them has their own opinion about others, which decides whether they will become lovers, get married, cheat or fight. Perhaps your two best colonists are happily married - until one falls in love with the captivating surgeon who saved one of them from dying from a gunshot wound. The game generates an entire planet from the pole to the equator. You choose whether you want to land on the cold northern tundra, dry desert plateau, temperate forest or steaming equatorial jungle. Different areas have different animals, plants, diseases, temperatures, precipitation, mineral resources, and terrain. The challenges of surviving in a disease-ridden jungle are quite different from those of a parched desert wasteland or a freezing tundra with a two-month growing season. Travel across the planet You won't be stuck in one place. You can form a caravan of people, animals, and prisoners. Rescue kidnapped former allies from pirate outposts, engage in peace talks, trade with other factions, attack enemy colonies, and more. You can even pack up your entire colony and move it to a new location. To travel faster, you can use rocket-powered transport pods. You can tame and train animals. Beloved pets will cheer up the sad colonists. Livestock can be processed, milked and sheared. Attacking beasts can be unleashed on enemies. There are many animals available in the game - cats, Labradors, grizzly bears, camels, pumas, chinchillas, chickens, and exotic alien life forms. People at RimWorld are constantly observing their situation and surroundings to decide how they feel at any given moment. They react to hunger and fatigue, seeing someone die, unburied bodies, having wounds, being left in the dark, cramped spaces, sleeping outside or in the same room as others, and many other situations. If they are too stressed, they may discharge or break down. Wounds, infections, dentures and chronic conditions can occur on any part of the body and affect the capabilities of the figure. Eye injuries make it difficult to shoot and perform surgeries. Leg injuries slow down the injured person. Hands, brain, face, heart, liver, kidneys, stomach, feet, fingers and toes, and many more can be injured, sick, or lost, all of which have logical consequences in the game. Each species has its own structure – a deer without one leg can still run on the other three. And a hornless rhino will become much less dangerous. Body parts can be replaced by prostheses ranging from the simplest to technologically advanced. Colonist Joe's wooden leg will allow him to move around after an unfortunate encounter with a rhinoceros, but he will walk slowly. If you buy an expensive, bionic leg from a dealer the following year, Joe will become a runner with superhuman power. Internal organs can be cut out, sold, bought and transplanted.
