How much longer will you be able to survive? Welcome to THE LONG DARK, an innovative exploration and survival adventure that has been dubbed "the pinnacle of the genre" by Wired magazine. The Long Dark is a deeply thought-out survival game in which the lone player takes full responsibility for the decisions they make, discovering icy areas devastated by a geomagnetic catastrophe. There are no zombies in this world — it's just you, the frost and all sorts of threats sent by Mother Nature. The Long Dark's episode story mode, WINTERMUTE, includes two of the five episodes that make up Season One. Both episodes underwent major reworks in December 2018 as part of the Redux update. The changes are: new mission structure, twists and turns, dialogues, animations, etc. EPISODE ONE: Don't Enter SoftlyPilot Will Mackenzie (player) and Dr. Astrid Greenwood are separated when their plane crashes in the wilderness of northern Canada, after a mysterious light flashes in the sky. Fighting for survival and desperately searching for Astrid, Mackenzie visits the town of Milton, where she begins to understand the scale of the silent apocalypse. EPISODE TWO: Fugue of RadianceIn search of Astrid, Mackenzie ventures deeper and deeper into the treacherous, freezing wilderness. A mysterious trapper may be the key to finding Astrid, but can he be trusted? The first two episodes of WINTERMUTE provide about 15 hours of gameplay. Episodes three through five are included and will be unlocked for free on release date. The cast was voiced by: Jennifer Hale, Mark Meer, David Hayter and Elias Toufexis (episode three). The music was composed by Cris Velasco.Survival Mode is a story-free sandbox survival game that has been perfected over three years in Early Access. Survival is your only goal, and death is the only possible ending. Create your own survival story in each subsequent game. NO FACILITATIONIN this game, everyone is fully responsible for their decisions. There are no ready-made answers, only cursory information. To survive, you have to make an effort. PERMANENT DEATHWhen you die in survival mode, you lose all progress. Every decision matters. (In WINTERMUTE mode, you are not in danger of permanent death.) STATE I KALORe control the state of hunger, thirst, fatigue and cold. Use the supplies and energy needed to get them wisely. Each activity is another lost calories, and time is your most valuable resource. Choose the path carefully. SCOUR THE WORLD FOR SUPPLIESThe 100 pieces of equipment to acquire, including tools, light sources, weapons, first aid supplies, and clothing. A VAST WORLD TEEMING WITH LIFEMhe cheats on valuable supplies, you'll explore the pristine lands of the northern part of Canada, covering an area of 50 square kilometers. In winter. Dynamic changes in the time of day, weather, wildlife activity, etc., will provide you with surprises and real challenges. NATURAL SELECTIONThe hunt, fish, set traps, climb, make maps, search for food and equipment. Do everything you can to avoid dying from hypothermia, frostbite, wildlife, and dysentery (which is just one of many unpleasant ailments). Find and always carry equipment that can save your life. CHOOSE YOUR GAME MODEThe four different game modes will provide any level of challenge, from a quiet and calm pilgrim mode to an intruder mode where even the most experienced players won't be able to survive for more than a week.
