Product description

Adama is a family and generational novel, chronique scandaleuse of Israel, political thriller and crime novel. A rousing historical epic about love and betrayal, violence and death, about loyalty and the will to assert oneself.

In 1946, young Ruth begins to build a new life for herself in Palestine, driven by youthful ideals in a country that is hostile to her. She is a Hungarian Zionist who, unlike most members of her family, was able to escape the Nazis in Budapest. Ruth becomes the heart of Kibbutz Trashim, and for her the kibbutz is sacred, holy earth, i.e. 'Adama', its existence is her life's work. If tough decisions are necessary, she will make them, including violence and murder.

We follow Ruth and her family through the years 1945 to 2009. And thus through the turbulence of the state of Israel - the conflict with the British, the expulsion of the Arabs, the Six-Day War and the Yom Kippur War may make Ruth even tougher and tougher. In addition to the portrait of an impressive female figure and her family, Lavie Tidhar also continues the history of violence in Israel.
