Detective Lena Schulte is dispatched to the Baltic coast – a German tourist has been found dead on the beach near Swinemünde. A swimming accident is suspected, but a large piece of amber is lodged in the dead man's mouth. Shortly afterward, ten-year-old Luisa, the daughter of a friend of the deceased, is reported missing. Together with Polish detective Adam Krawczyk, she questions the friends and relatives vacationing at a villa. Each of them seems to be hiding something. When another body turns up – again with amber in its throat – a race against time begins.
