Hildegard von Sinnen, a crisis-ridden crime writer with back pain, ends up in a rehabilitation clinic on the outskirts of Vienna. What begins as a tough therapy program with sitting gymnastics and canteen eating quickly becomes a gloomy puzzle: A patient dies - supposedly a misfortune, but Hilde senses murder. Together with the headstrong inspector Paulus, whose humor is just as dry as the marble cake in the canteen, she rolls up a decades-old case: a missing girl, a forbidden boarding school affair and a clique of women who have more corpses in the basement than pills in the bedside cabinet. While Hilde becomes entangled in a web of lies, jealousy and long-suppressed desire for revenge, she becomes a target herself, but instead of being intimidated, she proves that she can bring a murder case to a clean end despite back pain - in her own way. In the end, it is clear that rehab has not only saved her intervertebral disc, but also brought back her desire to write. And Hilde and Paulus are a team that you can't get rid of so quickly.
