Biography (Andrea Camilleri (1925-2019)) Andrea Camilleri was born in 1925 in Porto Empedocle, Sicily. He was a writer, screenwriter, and director, and taught for over twenty years at the Accademia d'Arte Drammatica Silvio D'Amico. Since 1998, every one of his books has topped the Italian bestseller lists. His award-winning work has also secured him a firm place on international bestseller lists. Several of his works have been published by Kindler Verlag. Andrea Camilleri was married, had three daughters and four grandchildren, and lived in Rome. He died on July 17, 2019, in Rome at the age of 93.
