Product description

A village, the world - and the longing for a self-determined life in 1971 in a village in southern Germany. After a kind of tailoring apprenticeship in the city, 20-year-old Roberta returns to her parents' farm. She is the only child and will be the farmer's wife one day. Here in the countryside, coming to terms with the past, conscientious objection, feminism, pop culture and miniskirts are not something to deal with. What counts here is work, obedience and moral conduct. Roberta dreams of designing her own clothes, but she knows for sure that these will remain dreams. At the same time, she loves her farm and the physical work in nature, where she feels completely at home. And she loves Wilhelm, the pastor's son. Wilhelm is not only the reason for Roberta to stay in the village. His mother Gertrud also stays because of her son. Unlike Roberta, she hates country life and wishes for nothing more than to be able to go away, out into the world. Both women become pregnant and have to make a decision. But a tragic accident gives both of their lives a completely new direction. Biography Ewald Arenz, born in Nuremberg in 1965, studied English and American Studies as well as History in Erlangen and has been publishing since the early nineties. He has received several awards for his literary work, and in 2004 he received the Bavarian State Prize for Culture. Ewald Arenz lives with his family in Fürth.
