Hiltrud Baier: The Colors of Winter (New Book)
When Hamburg-based graphic designer Nova Sarri looks for inspiration for her book covers, she thinks of the colors of Lapland. She used to spend every vacation there with her father, Juhan, and his new family. These are her fondest childhood memories: her father, whom she was allowed to help care for the reindeer; her "bonus mom," Kristin, who knitted warm hats for her; and Kaspar, her physically disabled stepbrother, who snuggled close to her in the sled. The fact that contact with the rest of the family broke off with her father's death is still difficult for Nova to cope with. She has never heard from either Kristin or Kaspar again. When a letter from northern Sweden summons Nova to the reading of her father's will, she suspects a mistake. After all, Juhan didn't die two weeks ago, as the notary claims, but more than twenty years ago. Nova sets off for northern Sweden. A journey that changes her life completely.
