A posthumous discovery: previously unpublished stories by one of America's most popular authors. Harper Lee (1926–2016), author of the famous novel *To Kill a Mockingbird*, is one of the greatest and most important American authors, yet little is known about her early writing career. *The Land of Sweet Eternity* now makes available eight previously unpublished stories from the early years of her writing career, discovered in her New York apartment after her death. From a small town in Alabama to the life of a young writer in New York City, these stories bring us closer to the creator of Tom Robinson, Atticus, and Scout Finch. *The Land of Sweet Eternity* also includes eight essays and articles that reveal an author who seemed very reclusive, yet who viewed the world around her with great curiosity, clarity, and insight. Biography (Harper Lee) Harper Lee was born in Monroeville, Alabama, in 1926. She began studying law at the University of Alabama in 1945, but before graduating, she moved to New York and worked for an international airline. She received the Pulitzer Prize in 1961 for this novel, becoming the first woman to win it since 1942, and now lives a secluded life in New York. Biography (Nicole Seifert) Nicole Seifert holds a doctorate in literature and is a trained bookseller. She works as a translator and author in Hamburg. Her blog, "NachtundTag" (Night and Day), which focuses exclusively on female writers, received the German Book Blog Award from the German Publishers and Booksellers Association in 2019. New product
