Product description

When the investor rings twice, the tense situation leaves the hotel owner headless, and the white lie establishes itself as the communication method of choice. Only two things are perfect about this hotel. Number one: the owner's name. The building itself? The facade is crumbling and one of the balconies is hanging crooked – even the prime location a little outside of Reichenau an der Rax can't save it. The "Perfekt" wellness hotel definitely saw its best days long ago. The place is basically only held together by its few remaining employees. At least by those who haven't yet fled from owner Felix Perfekt, who is notoriously envious and even more choleric. This long-suffering group includes Sophie, in her mid-thirties, who was hired as a physiotherapist. She had very good reasons for coming here, but she can't explain why she's staying. Or Marta, who not only looks after the rooms but also the boss with an eye for detail. What unites this motley crew, besides their questionable life choices? They're all poorly paid, or, strictly speaking, not paid at all. And this has been going on for months. A new investor couldn't have come at a better time than fresh bread rolls at a breakfast buffet. The catch with this potential savior: he wants to inspect the hotel thoroughly. Incognito! No. 2: a murder. Almost. While the worst-case scenario doesn't materialize and the dreaded bedbugs fail to appear, the deaths in neighboring Reichenau an der Rax don't exactly contribute to the advertised feel-good atmosphere. When Mr. Perfect then, quite unluckily, falls out of the window, and his neck, even more unluckily, makes acquaintance with the folded hands of the oversized Buddha, the very last chance seems lost. Seems... because the desperate employees are swept away by a charade reminiscent of Shakespeare. Their ace in the hole: Felix's twin brother Florian, a misanthrope with a kind soul ascendant, who would lose his inheritance along with the hotel. And—thanks to their identical origins—he looks exactly like Felix. A plan with the potential for all sorts of failures, bad luck, and mishaps, especially when even the employees aren't quite sure who's who: staff, guest, tradesman, murderer? "The stay was, as it has been for the past 70 years, to our utmost satisfaction!" Do you love the morbid charm of "lost places" or locations seemingly frozen in time? Then you have nothing in common with the regulars of the Hotel "Perfekt." They seem a bit out of touch with the times themselves and are genuinely delighted that the hotel still looks like it did on their honeymoon years ago. Superb Austro-Hungarian chic and charm included! If you also enjoy quirky to eccentric characters, witty dialogue, and a touch of excitement, then Theresa and Joseph Prammer, who celebrate both theater and crime fiction, are the perfect choice. And unlike the well-known, similarly out-of-the-way café, the Prammers spare you any pearls of wisdom. Instead, you'll find protagonists with their own unique, unconventional perspectives on life. After all, who else ends up in a hotel on the verge of collapse? New product
