Product description

Germany, palm trees, and how to simply disappear: Following "Work," the new novel by Thorsten Nagelschmidt, March 2020, takes place in a secluded lodge in the Colombian jungle village of Soledad. Hamburg photographer Alena intends to stay for just a few days after a painful breakup. But she becomes increasingly captivated by the mystical charm of the place and the stories of Rainer, the German owner of the lodge, whose life story bears little resemblance to Alena's initial impressions of this strange and charismatic man: Always considered too soft as a child, he rebels against the stuffy post-war Germany of the 1960s, works as a salesman for jeans, and after an odyssey through Latin America, ends up in Colombia, where he buys a piece of land from a high-ranking drug dealer to build his lodge from scratch. As in his highly acclaimed novel "Arbeit" (Work), Thorsten Nagelschmidt tells the story of seemingly very different people in "Soledad" with impressive empathy and wit, revealing that their shared desire for recognition and belonging is closer than they initially thought. Biography: Born in 1976 as Thorsten Nagelschmidt in Münsterland, he is an author, musician, and artist. He lives in Berlin and Hamburg. From 1993 to 2009, he was the singer, lyricist, and guitarist of the band Muff Potter. He published the fanzine Wasted Paper and wrote freelance for Intro, Jungle World, and Opak. New product
