Product description

In 'Fallen' we get to know the former bestselling author Brigitte Schwaiger as a psychiatric patient. Her descriptions deal with uncomprehending doctors and failed attempts at therapy, with fleeting moments of happiness, the fear of living and the necessary anger in the face of the continuing taboo on mental illness. Schwaiger's impressive confessions have not lost any of their explosiveness and topicality since their first publication in 2006, as Andrea Winkler emphasizes in her afterword, which was created especially for the new edition. Relentlessly honest and with great emphasis, 'Fallenlassen' defies the impositions of the capitalist meritocracy, provides comfort and pleads for an unbiased and self-confident view of mental illness. 'I went to the psychiatric ward in the hope of being able to speak there one day. In psychiatry, however, you are 'sick', otherwise you wouldn't be there ...'
