This book examines the influence of ecological and economic worries about the future on different dimensions of the desire to have children in Norway. Using data from the Generations and Gender Survey, the analyses show that worries about the future tend to be associated with an uncertain desire to have children and a lower ideal number of children, but without indicating a general rejection of parenthood. The results illustrate the importance of future-related concerns in explaining fertility decisions and underline group-specific differences in their effect. New product
