Back cover: I'm 30 years old and part of the ambitious generation that radically questions work. We can afford to: When the baby boomers retire in the coming years, Germany will be short more than seven million workers. After three years of pandemic, in the midst of the climate crisis, we look to the future differently. We don't want work to define who we are. We want a legally mandated four-day workweek, sabbaticals, parental leave, and real evenings off. And work that has meaning. I witnessed my mother working herself to the bone as a caregiver.
That cannot be our goal! Yes, we are the generation with high standards. And our standards are justified. It's not presumptuous to demand that work makes people happy. Work that makes people sick should be abolished. And no one should do bullshit jobs that a machine can do. That is the future of work, and that future is very soon.
