Product description

Confirmands are in a phase of life characterized by transitions. The transition from childhood to adolescence, from perceived immaturity to (religious) maturity, from the family nest into peer groups—all of this impacts the reality and perception of confirmands. In this fragile phase of life, young people need a special kind of support and guidance; they need to be able to ask questions and find spaces where they can reflect on their perceptions and attitudes toward the world. Furthermore, they need experiences of security and the feeling of being held and supported in this world. From a developmental psychology perspective, experiences of spirituality and community are important resilience factors.

Therefore, in working with confirmands, devotional formats have a special significance, enabling the confirmands to experience and explore religion within the community.

This book aims to present successful examples that serve as inspiration. Volunteers and professionals working with confirmation candidates should be encouraged by these suggestions to experiment and consider both biblical and church traditions, as well as the lived experiences of young people within the context of religious community.
