Michael Bruns: Transformed Memory Book New
Interreligious dialogue has always been a cross-border process. A theology that strives for understanding with Islam must necessarily include the Arabic language. But what if Arabic is not only the language of Islam, but also of Christianity? In his dissertation, Michael Bruns introduces central Christian-Arabic texts on Islam between the seventh and tenth centuries. The authors belong to all Christian denominations; their approach to Islam is determined not only by theological, but also by psychological and socio-cultural aspects. The thesis traces these developments and reveals a variety of connections to the history of European theology. Even in postmodernity, Christian-Islamic dialogue can therefore benefit from the historical experiences of Arab Christians. New product
