Schulz was born in Minneapolis, USA, in 1922. In 1950 he drew the first Peanuts strip, which initially appeared in 7 daily newspapers. The series became really successful at the end of the 50s. Cartoons and a Broadway musical followed. When the multi-award-winning American resigned from his job at the end of 1999, "Peanuts" was the most successful comic strip of all time. Charles M. Schulz died on February 12, 2000. One day later, his last strip appeared in the Sunday newspapers. Posthumously, the illustrator was awarded the "Lifetime Achievement Award".
