The London antiquarian Ezra Winston is led by mysterious signs to the grave of an executed man named Mort Cinder. Mort Cinder returns from the dead to drag Ezra into dark adventures: the revenant has witnessed a series of historical events! Mort Cinder is a masterpiece by author Héctor G. Oesterheld and illustrator Alberto Breccia. Since its publication in 1962, Mort Cinder has been considered one of the expressive highlights of the Ninth Art. Breccia recalled: "Don't let Mort Cinder appear until fifteen or twenty pages later, until then an old man is telling the story - and that old man wants to be myself!" And so the antiquarian bears the facial features of Alberto Breccia - even if he will only look like his figure decades later.
