In the middle of the Indian Ocean, a man is abruptly awakened. His twelve-meter sailboat has collided with a shipping container adrift in the open sea. His navigation equipment and radio subsequently fail, and he is swept into the heart of a violent storm. At the last minute, the man manages to patch the leak in his boat. He survives the storm by the skin of his teeth thanks to his nautical intuition and experience. Virtually unable to maneuver, the man drifts on the open ocean. His last hope is to be carried by the current into one of the major shipping lanes. Under the relentlessly scorching sun, the usually confident and experienced sailor is confronted with his own mortality and fights a desperate battle for survival.
