The film follows Grace and her partner Jackson, who have just moved into an old house in the country. With the goal of writing the Great American Novel, Grace settles into her new surroundings. Soon, the couple has a baby. But as Jackson is suspiciously often absent and the pressures of family life weigh heavily on Grace, she begins to unravel, leaving a trail of destruction in her wake.
