Four for an Ave Maria, a western action adventure in the best Italian tradition, was filmed in Mexico, Spain and Rome. Cacopoulos (Eli Wallach) relieves two "hombres" with dubious morals of 300,000 dollars and then distributes the money very generously. His victims follow his trail. But when the men finally meet, they must join forces to defend themselves against a bloodthirsty desperado. Even before the fight is over, Cacopoulos makes off with the money again. The hunt continues and ultimately leads to a gambling den on the Mississippi, a furious shootout and lots of money for everyone.
