The self-absorbed clairvoyant and womanizer Erik Jan Hanussen becomes involved with the Nazis. He rises through the ranks and, among other things, predicts the Reichstag fire. However, his prophecies are not well received in the relevant circles. Hanussen's lover, Hilde Graf, also attracts unwanted attention with her outspoken criticism of the regime. The worst is in store for both of them...
