It all started with a yellow piece of paper. "We promise to become the best rock band of all time," they scribbled grandiosely on their demo tape in 2000. "If you don't believe it—fuck off." The recipient: the biggest record labels in America. The sender: a bunch of small-town boys. "Union Youth" was their name, music from a garage in Lower Saxony, songs like hand grenades. Four friends and the power of dreams: Maze, Michael, Jan, and Nobse. Their plan was audacious, brazen, and naive, but the Americans saw it differently. They got four tickets to LA, played for superstars, rode in limousines, and sat in bars with Robbie Williams and Josh Homme. They were miraculous years, intoxicating and excessive. Until they had a rude awakening. Fifteen years later: The memories of a brief, triumphant rise have long since faded to old VHS tapes. Singer Maze decided to return to what he loved most: music. The old gang got back together. Will they manage to reinvent themselves? They already have a name for the new band: 'Pictures'. But rehearsals are going strangely. At one point, Maze stops showing up altogether, and the friends realize: their singer is in mortal danger. Drugs. Depression. Loss of control. Yet, despite all their fears, they want to take responsibility for their project together: a new tour, a fresh start, a new beginning. A musical drama about loss of control, drug addiction, responsibility, and the power of friendship.
