Robert Liebling (Manfred Krug), the lawyer who only sometimes enjoys being a lawyer, handles the legal proceedings in the vibrant Berlin district of Kreuzberg. Liebling is unconventional, extremely blunt, and occasionally eccentric. He favors a three-day beard, a floppy hat, and ugly ties, rides a motorcycle, and smokes cigars. One of his quirks is his consumption of Jell-O: green or red, that is the question! His secretaries, Paula (Corinna Genest) and Senta (Anja Franke)—always with Walkman headphones—keep a supply on hand. Since he is also work-shy and rarely likes to be disturbed in his comfort zone, he has a partner, G. Arnold (Michael Kausch), onto whom he offloads anything that smacks of work. Liebling's working methods can be rather rough, but with a few legal tricks, everyday cases and minor disputes are usually won.
