Nico comes from a wealthy family, is primarily interested in chess, and otherwise behaves very strangely. When the family dog is found dead, Nico's parents reach their breaking point. They ask the psychologist Julio to take on the boy. Julio tries to connect with Nico through chess and discovers not only that he would do anything to win an upcoming tournament, but also that the seemingly perfect world of Nico's parents is far from idyllic.
