He loves fast cars, parties and is always on the lookout for trouble – his gang admires him for that and for his ruthlessness. During a chase, he is responsible for the deaths of several police officers, whom he pushes off the road with his car with a souped-up engine. Boyfriend Dave, mocked as "chicken", is in love with Nancy, who dominates him - for Johnny the reason for Dave's "softness". Johnny wins a cyclo-cross race, killing one rider. He kidnaps Nancy, drives to the gang's meeting place and wants to force them, Dave shows up and exposes Johnny in front of the gang.
