Jacob Kaplan is 76 years old, lives in Montevideo and has not performed any special heroic deed in his life. This distinguishes him little from his old friends in the Jewish community, who spend a sun-drenched but terribly ordinary retirement. But Jacob is fermenting with dissatisfaction that he just let his life pass by without making the world a better place because of him. In addition, there is the annoying visual impairment, which relentlessly reminds Jacob that the clock is ticking. However, when a rumor circulates in the community that a German Nazi has been hiding on the coast of Uruguay for years, he is offered a unique opportunity: Jacob enlists the chaotic and chronically burned-out ex-policeman Wilson to go on a Nazi hunt with him. Together they discover telling traces that the German has almost successfully covered over the years in order to be able to hand him over to the Israeli authorities in the end, Jacob Kaplan hopes. But the international operation that the two instigate is more dangerous than they think.
