Documentary filmmaker Scott urgently needs a job and finds it with Bellard Nelson, who wants a documentary that exposes the danger of evangelical Christians to American society. Scott is supposed to provide the cinematic evidence for this by infiltrating a free church and recording everything with secret cameras. So Scott goes undercover to a church with his family and finds out that everything is different from what his employer would like.

His family likes it there, and Scott comes under more and more pressure from Nelson to finally provide 'evidence'. When Nelson then cuts together and publishes some of Scott's material himself, Scott is exposed. Especially with the people who have become his friends in the meantime and are now understandably. But that they still want to forgive him, Scott didn't expect at all...
