1985: Life in County Wexford, Ireland, is marked by poverty, hard work and Catholicism. Bill Furlong works as a coal merchant to support his wife Eileen and his five children. Shortly before Christmas, he delivers coal to the local nunnery and observes the forced admission of a pregnant girl. Bill, who himself grew up as an illegitimate child without a father, gets to the bottom of enormous grievances among the nuns. But the authorities and inhabitants of the village do not dare to rebel against the all-powerful church. New product
