In 19th-century England, a series of gruesome murders occurs. The victims are students, found practically drained of blood at the crime scenes. Inspector Quennell, investigating the case, is baffled. Strange animal scales are discovered at the crime scenes, which he takes to the local entomologist, Dr. Mallinger, for examination.
