Neïla Salah has done it. She's been accepted to the prestigious Assas Law School in Paris and is on her way to finally fulfilling her dream of becoming a lawyer. But everything goes wrong on her very first day. Neïla arrives late. And of all times, she's late for Professor Pierre Mazard's lecture, a man known for his provocative behavior and verbal outbursts. In his decidedly politically incorrect manner, he immediately singles out the young student in front of the entire lecture hall. But this encounter will have consequences. Mazard is given an ultimatum by the university administration: either he leaves or he smooths things over by helping Neïla win a prestigious public speaking competition. Neïla is anything but thrilled about this unexpected commitment—after all, she and the cynical, elitist professor couldn't be more different. And yet, over time, they manage to see beyond each other's brittle facades and discover that they have much to learn from one another.
