May 1945, Tyrolean Alps: The war is coming to an end. The injured SS soldier Anton deserts and comes across a remote mountain pasture where the Jewess Hannah is hiding. Despite deep mistrust, she treats his wounds while the 16-year-old farmer Charlotte helps them cope with the deprivation of everyday life. At night, the battles between German troops and Italian partisans echo through the mountains. A cautious familiarity grows between Anton and Hannah.
