Heinz Erhardt, also known as Gottlieb Sänger, enjoys life as a carefree hiker in the Black Forest until he encounters a young girl who has run away from her boarding school. To prevent anything worse from happening, he takes her under his wing and sets off with her on her journeyman's travels. Naturally, his grandmother mustn't suspect a thing, so the two send her letters, seemingly 'remotely controlled,' feigning a normal boarding school life.
