In England, the series THE MAN FROM INTEROL (OT: Man from Interpol) was designed for a total of 39 episodes and was filmed in 1958/59. The actor Richard Wyler slipped into the role of special agent Anthony Burns (Smith). THE MAN FROM INTERPOL is one of the few European TV series that was also broadcast with great success in the USA. In 1964, ZDF acquired the rights for 13 episodes, which the channel showed in its program from April 5, 1966. The editor in charge, Gert Mechoff, found the role surname of the main character Anthony Smith somewhat banal. At his request, the name was changed to Burns in the German dubbed version.
