Boris Karloff's role in the 1932 version of "The Mummy" has become a milestone in the annals of film history. Karloff plays Im-Ho-Tep, the mummy who is accidentally brought back to life after 3,700 years by a group of British archaeologists. A flashback shows that he was once a high priest who was embalmed alive. He had tried to bring his great love back to life after it had been sacrificed as a virgin. Dressed in the garb of an Egyptian of modern times, he sets out in search of his lost love, which he believes he has mistakenly found in Helen Grosvenor. He terrorizes the members of the expedition, who must find a way to stop him on his brutal path.
