The Progressive Nostalgics DVD New
A family idyll in France in the 1950s: Michel, mediocre, is a bank clerk and breadwinner, his better half Hélène, with a perm but rebellious, takes care of the household and children. The patriarchal paradise seems perfect until a short circuit of the washing machine catapults the two into the year 2025. Suddenly, the roles are redistributed. While Hélène does surprisingly well as a career-intensive power woman, Michel has to struggle as a househusband. Instead of the rhetoric of submission, Michel now needs empowerment, Hélène enjoys the freedom of emancipation. But the brave new world has its pitfalls: the virtual voice assistant is stubborn, you have to screw the furniture together yourself, the dog excrement is picked up from the floor and your own daughter wants to marry her friend. Now the disempowered head of the family has had enough. He wants to go back to the good old days, right now! If only he knew how to program the washing machine to travel back in time. In THE PROGRESSIVE NOSTALGICS, freedom is always just a wingbeat away from the good old days. Director Vinciane Millereau demonstrates a great sense of the absurdities of our time. With cheeky humour, precise sarcasm and wonderful situational comedy, THE PROGRESSIVE NOSTALGICS takes aim at the promises of salvation of our present and tells of the wonderful relativity of history.
