Product description

In 1960, after graduating from high school, Hermann Simon left his home village of Schabbach in the Hunsrück region to study music and composition in Munich. Numerous new acquaintances, including Juan from Chile, with whom he soon found a close friend, enriched Hermann's student life during a turbulent time of social and political upheaval. The second part of Edgar Reitz's monumental Heimat trilogy was written in 1992 and, in contrast to the rural setting of the first part, is set in Munich's urban art scene of the 1960s. HEIMAT 2 – CHRONICLE OF A YOUTH depicts the youth of Hermann Simon, who already plays a central role in HEIMAT – A GERMAN CHRONICLE, and follows him from his high school graduation through his music studies in Munich to his return to his home village. With unique dramatic sensitivity, Reitz weaves personal experiences and historical events into an epic narrative. In each of the 13 episodes, besides Hermann, played by Henry Arnold, there is another main character whose name is also mentioned in the opening credits. New product
