The Secret of the Amaryllis - Film Pidax DVD New
A lonely house on the New England coast around 1880: Jenny visits her grandmother Geneva Reade and lets herself be drawn into a mysterious story. Geneva's husband was captain of the ship Amaryllis, which sank in a storm many decades ago. The sea has never released the remains of the ship and the crew. Nevertheless, Geneva is still waiting for a sign of life from her husband, until one eerie night there actually seems to be news of the Amayrillis ... Director Frederick King Keller's film is based on the well-known novel "The Eyes of the Amayrillis" by Natalie Babbitt. The Encyclopedia of International Film wrote: "An atmospheric, well-photographed story with elements of the gothic novel, in which an appeal for mutual human acceptance and the unity of man and nature flows." Pidax finally presents this gem, the dubbed version of which was thought to be lost, on DVD.
