Tamara Bunke – born in Argentina, raised in East Germany – firmly believed in the communist ideal. Her language skills and political convictions made her the ideal candidate for the KGB, which sent her to Cuba. There she met Che Guevara and became part of his secret guerrilla plans. Under the false identity of Laura Gutiérrez Bauer, she traveled to Bolivia to prepare for Guevara's revolution – against the resistance of the local communist party. This spy film, directed by genre veteran Helmuth Ashley, traces the life of Tamara Bunke, who was a member of Che Guevara's guerrilla movement until August 1967, when she met a violent end.
