Frank Michalka's life is one big humiliation until he gets a second chance in Ethiopia and starts a new life there. But when he has to return to Germany, Michalka becomes the bank robber he was before he fled to Africa. After the robbery, he sits down in the middle of a crowded square and waits for the police. In prison, he threatens to break until the criminal law trainee Sophie Kleinschmidt takes on his case and persuades the public defender Christoph Weilandt to adopt a truly extraordinary defense strategy.
