With his idiosyncratic country/folk-rock style, Alex Amen releases his debut album »Sun of Amen« on ATO Records: a work that creates space for lasting, quiet amazement and offers songs that are characterized by a magnetic lightness and extraordinary beauty. Partially recorded at the legendary Valentine Recording Studios in L.A., Sun of Amen unfolds with a rich sonic depth achieved with the help of an extensive cast of musicians, including several of Amen's longtime bandmates, as well as sought-after talents such as Tommy de Bourbon (a multi-instrumentalist who most recently worked as a pedal steel player in Lana Del Rey's touring band, among other roles). Over the course of the 11 songs, the album's lush and leisurely sound serves as a powerful backdrop for Amen's storytelling, adding another layer to his astute evocation of atmosphere and landscape. Last year, Amen toured with the Folk Bitch Trio, performed at festivals such as Pitchfork London & Paris, Newport Folk, Iceland Airwaves, Austin City Limits, and Outside Lands, and also participated in the Americana Music Association's annual GRAMMY Eve concert at the Troubadour in honor of Neil Young.
