Product description

There is no other band like Angel Du$t. In fact, this unique group is almost defined by how much it stands out from the crowd. So if it's clear that Angel Du$t can't be compared to anyone, what are they like? Are they groundbreaking genre destroyers or one of the last real guitar bands? Are they the embodiment of outright aggression or serious experimenters? Are they the hardcore version of an indie band or is it the other way around? You might ask yourself such questions when you look at Angel Dust's more than ten-year journey – but the band's new album, »Cold 2 The Touch«, suggests that maybe it's not that complicated after all. Or as singer/mastermind Justice Tripp puts it: "Angel Du$t is rock 'n' roll."

»Cold 2 The Touch« captures this simple fact better than ever before. The 26 minutes of eclectic and hard-hitting music make it clear that Angel Du$t does not allow herself to be pressed into the boundaries of narrow subgenres and that such an elementary term as rock 'n' roll actually fits like a glove. This is the band's most open and wild album in a long time – a mix of hard riffs and big hooks, complemented by Tripp's open-hearted existentialism.

A whole host of contributors make »Cold 2 The Touch« a captivating listening experience that never ceases to surprise the listener: guitarist Jim Caroll is particularly noticeable in »Zero«, a true Angel Du$t epic that features over three minutes of spiraling riffs and vocals from Wes Eisold of American Nightmare and Cold Cave; » "Downfall" has the growl of Patrick Cozens of Restraining Order; "Man On Fire" draws on British punk legend Frank Carter, and "The Beat" features throaty guest contributions from Taylor Young of Twitching Tongues, Deadbody and others.

The last two songs of the album, »The Knife« and »The Beat«, sum up exactly what makes Angel Du$t such a special band. It's a creative endeavor where open-hearted thoughts about the finiteness of life can coexist with the unbridled tension of violent riffs, where true humanity can flourish and, above all, it's all about staying true to yourself and your own spectrum of thoughts, interests, and feelings. "That's me," says Tripp. "And I also speak for the band: We are people who will always play aggressive rock 'n' roll. This happens whether you like it or not. I am me, and if you stand in my way, I will destroy you."
