Product description

"Olympia" was written during the pandemic and describes difficult times. Surrounded by fog and feelings that are, in reality, snapshots of an almost all-consuming heaviness. Bitter irony of fate as a stylistic element in his lyrics; the zenith of failure. In the end, all you do is watch YouTube videos. You lie around, lose yourself in old sports videos, and let the hours slip by, paralyzed. While people on the screen swim 100 meters in 47 seconds, thereby changing their entire lives and the world, you yourself can't accomplish anything anymore. Total standstill. The image stutters.
Between apathy, slow-motion sadness, and speed records, the urge arises to transform something so destructive into something constructive. A goal that Betterov has achieved on his debut album.

"Olympia" searches for reasons and offers hope. It's about love, lost love, the desire to be someone else, to find oneself. The longing to be part of a group. Only to realize in the end that one's own nonconformity is actually one's greatest strength. Together with fellow musicians, and under the supervision of the production duo Tim Tautorat (Pharrell, Herbert Grönemeyer, AnnenMayKantereit) and Dennis Borger (Razz, Anoki, Trille), an album was created in Berlin's Hansa Studios whose dense, uncompromisingly raw, yet captivating sound comes across much more like a band than a desperate solo artist. A good move.

In his new single, Betterov describes the bittersweet feeling of being torn apart. The diffuse moment when reality and escapism merge.
He is one of the most exciting new voices and has already been celebrated within the German-speaking music scene. Wrapped in a likeable, zeitgeist-defining mix of indie rock and post-punk, he reports on the realities of his generation's life.
