"Scenes from The Southside" is the follow-up album to his first big hit album "The Way It Is" (1986) with the hit of the same name (for which, by the way, he received a Grammy). Hornsby recorded another album with The Range before trying his hand as a solo artist, working as a songwriter for various artists (Huey Lewis, Don Henley) and playing keyboards for the Grateful Dead (in the early 90s).
